CANFA is again leading a delegation of farmers and agribusiness to Argentina on a study tour of their no-till grain production and machinery systems. Special interest will again be in their seeding, spraying, liquid fertiliser, harvesting, grain silo bagging and extraction and precision agriculture technologies. The touring party leave this Saturday June 8 and return on June 18. The group will again be visiting a number of machinery manufacturers at their premises as well as spending 4 days at AgroActiva, the largest of the Argentinean machinery field days. Two of the group, CANFA Committee member Grant Byrne (who toured in March 2012 as well) and CANFA life member Scott McCalman, are being hosted at the field day by Pro Cordoba as part of their special international contingent. They will be participating in a range of special featured presentations and machinery displays.

Meetings have also been organised with the Argentinean No Till Association, AAPRESID, as well as with a group of farmers and agribusiness people interested in controlled traffic farming systems. As a follow-up from March 2012, it is hoped to formalise closer working relations with the Argentinean research and extension (INTA) and machinery industry organisations (CIDETER and CAFMA). All in all, it promises to be another great trip. Follow our progress on the daily blog!!
